Ryder Cup Golf Club Tour

 

A helicopter will be bringing The Ryder Cup to Southerndown next Tuesday.

 

The Ryder Cup trophy helicopter tour forms part of a campaign to encourage clubs to nominate Tenovus – the official charity of Ryder Cup Wales 2010 – as their official charity for next year.

Club Captain, Tony Newton, commented:  "The Ryder Cup coming to Wales marks the emergence of Wales as a serious venue for International golf and opens the door to visitors, particularly from the USA, to include Wales as a seriously attractive option for playing golf.
 
The most memorable aspect of the Ryder Cup, apart from the sequence of wins for Europe, has to be the sportsmanship. Whether it be Jack Nicklaus's memorable concession to Tony Jacklin, Davis Love and Darren Clarke enjoying cigars together after a hard fought half, but particularly the sympathy and support shown to Darren Clarke from both sides on the completion of his singles match at the K Club."
