Wayfarers

We have struggled recently to get a full team for recent matches, especially those which require a bit of travelling such as Morlais Castle in Merthyr and Woodlake Park near Usk. This has the potential of being embarrassing for the club if we turn up short of players.

 

I believe the reason for this is that we do not have a large enough bank of available players to draw a team from. It only needs a couple of players to withdraw for whatever reason and we are ringing around desperately to fill the gaps. Many thanks, to those solid regular members of the team who unquestionably support the Wayfarers.

 

The reason I am emailing you and placing this on the notice board, is that I believe the time has come to expand/renew the Wayfarers bank of players. There are a large number of players in Southerndown Golf Club who play to handicaps between 9.5 and 17, which is the requirement of the Wayfarers Society. This is obvious from any competition sheet that goes up on the board. Alas those players are not putting themselves forward to represent the club at Wayfarer level. May I request you do so urgently.

 

Apart from the fun of the matches, where else can you play at another golf course and get a two course meal for £7.00. We have a new set of sponsored shirts which give the right impression when playing a match. If you are thinking that I would like to play but IÂ’m not good enough, our last match with Woodlake Park resulted in a win for one of our players who was 16 handicap.
