Thursday's practice day met players with a strong 40mph wind, giving them a taster of what might come over the next 3 days. Luckily the wind died down when the first 8am starters tee'd it up on Friday. Matt Mullooly took advantage - combined with his home course knowledge, he carded a superb 1-over 71 to start his tournament, helping him to the lowest round of the day along with Morgan Radziejowski from the Herefordshire.

The wind soon started to pick up, but 32 players lay at +6 or better. Saturday was much of the same. A brisk cold wind proved testing, but was somewhat tamed by Sean David from Pyle & Kenfig, following his opening round of 72 with a solid 73 and taking the lead through 36 holes. The conditions saw the cut mark of 36 and ties rise to 156 (+16) - seeing 37 players make it through to Sunday's play.

Best of round 3 came from James Nash from Ormskirk. His 71 catapulted him to 2nd position alongside Tomi Bowen from Welshpool, sitting 4 shots behind the in-form Sean David through 54 holes.

Ex-southerndown member and Duncan Putter winner Kyle Harman from St Athan showed his class in the final round, scoring a 2-over 72, narrowly edging out Matt Kippen from Enmore and Tom Bastow from Isle of Purbeck, for the best score of round 4.

2013 winner Tim Harry showed a great run of form, ending his campaign in 3rd place only one shot away. Tom Bastow overturned a 7-shot deficit - carding a 72 whilst Sean David slipped away with a 79, resulting in a tie for the championship.

Congratulations to all winners, and a big thank you to all volunteers, referees, starters and staff making the event a great success in 2022 - we hope to see you all next year!
