Duncan Putter Day 1 comes to a close

12 APRIL 2019 18:11

Day one of the 2019 Duncan Putter comes to a close after 10 hours of golf out on the links. A bitter easterly wind and firm fiery surfaces gave the elite amateurs a true test.

Only two players managed to score under par all day; George Bryant from Exeter GC scoring an impressive 67 (-3), and Harrison King from Staddon Heights GC two shots behind with a 69 (-1).

The Swedish once again have brought a strong contingent this year, with 8 of them teeing it up today. Gustav Andersson from Bokskogens GC leads their group, and overall third position, after his level par 70.

Southerndown have fielded 12 players in the Championship. Kieron Harman and Matthew Harris have finished the best of the bunch after day 1 scoring a pair of 74's. Dan Jakeway, Theo Baker, Owain Taylor and Graham McMonagle sit just behind with 76, whilst ex Walker Cup player Llewellyn Matthews sits at +7 after a 77.

Tomorrow is set to be another bright and dry day. Make sure to keep update with live scoring here:
