Kyle Harman wins the 2016 Duncan Putter

10 APRIL 2016 11:52

Kyle Harman (Southerndown Golf Club) was declared the winner of the Duncan Putter tournament after the second days play was abandoned due to sever gale force winds.

Putting became impossible on the downland links, with golf balls blowing off the green on holes 2, 6, 10, and 11. Tournament Director John Peters and his team of referees, tried to keep play going, but at 10.30 the decision was made to suspend play and call the players back in. After looking at the forecast for the remainder of the day and the prospect of the winds actually increasing at around 2pm, the decision was made to abandoned the final two rounds and revert back to the 36 Hole results from Saturdays play.

This was a very disappoint end to what was shaping to be a great final days contest, with so many players in contention for the title. Congratulation must go to Kyle Harman for his outstanding play on day one. Kyle finished two clear of Sam Done in second spot with Maximilian Schmitt ( Germany) Ben Chamberlain (Padeswood & Buckley) and Gian-Marco Petrozzi (Trentham Golf Club) all a shot further back in joint third.

A great day of scoring on Saturday put plenty of players in contention going into Rounds 3 and 4. Unfortunately, high winds affected the balls on the green during the play of round 3, and the decision was made to reduce the tournament to 36 holes.
