Bulletin 1
Duncan Putter Practice Day
Those competitors who were not familiar with Southerndown have enjoyed calm conditions for their practice round. It would be unusual, though, if the wind does not spring a few surprises over the next two days. There are no trees or lakes for golfers to deal with at Southerndown - only gorse, bracken and wind!
The course is in very good condition, considering the strange weather of the past month. The sunshine has been deceptive. Air temperatures have been high but the ground has remained very cold, with grass growth very slow and putting surfaces firm and fast. The recent April showers have finally brought the start of a late spring and the course is now beginning to shape up nicely.
One thing is certain - we will be sure to see some good golf in the next few days. If you can join us, please do - you will be very welcome. If not, we will try to bring the Duncan Putter to you via regular website bulletins. Just follow this link: http://www.southerndowngolfclub.com/competitions_duncan_putter.php
