On a clear day, just about visible from Southerndown, Royal Porthcawl was described as being one of the twelve finest courses in the world by the late Tom Scott, a leading writer on golf and former editor of Golf Illustrated.

Pyle and Kenfig Golf Club (P and K)
Pyle and Kenfig Golf Course, affectionately known as ‘P & K’ with its lofty sand hills hugging the South Wales coast of Porthcawl is situated in a wonderful stretch of golfing country. It is rare to find three gems as close together as Pyle & Kenfig, Royal Porthcawl and Southerndown.

Pennard Golf Club
Located 8 miles west of Swansea in the Gower Peninsula, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Golf has been played there since 1896, although the course owes most of its appeal today first to James Braid and then to C.K. Cotton.

Ashburnham Golf Club
Ashburnham is one of the finest and oldest golf courses in Wales, founded in 1894. It is located close to the Burry Estuary and Worm’s Head, with fine views over Carmarthen Bay. A number of important events have been hosted at Ashburnham, including the PGA Championship. Bernard Gallacher picked up his first pay cheque here when he won the 1969 Schweppes PGA Championship. Sam Torrance and Dai Rees were also victorious at Ashburnham.
